Five Presidents Sign a Treaty to Establish a Transfrontier Park the Size of Sweden

• The Presidents of the Republics of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe signed a Treaty which formally and legally establishes the 275,888 square mile Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA)

• They aim to ensure that the natural resources they share across their international boundaries are conserved and managed prudently for present and future generations within the context of sustainable development

• The treaty creates an international organization with specific legal authorities to govern the TFCA and ensure the goals of the treaty are realized
